High purity quartz (SiO2) microfibre filters are used for air sampling in acidic gases, stacks, flues and aerosols, particularly at high temperatures up to 500°C and in PM10 testing. Because of the low level of alkalin earth metals, "artifact" products of sulfates and nitrates (from SO2 and NO2) are virtually eliminated. 8 x 10 in. sheets of QM-A type filters are available sequentially numbered according to EPA standards, and are suitable for most applications; QM-B type filters are for use when double thickness and increased strength and retention is required.

Whatman EPM 2000 Glass Microfiber Filters have been developed and produced especially for use in high volume PM-10 air sampling equipment that collects atmospheric particulates and aerosols. It is manufactured from 100% pure borosilicate glass of special purity enabling detailed chemical analysis of trace pollutants to take place with the minimum of interference or background. EPM 2000 filters are available in either a 4.7cm circle filter or an 8 x 10 in. sheet. Both sizes come 100/Box.

Whatman has developed a new filter medium by combining two microfiber filters in one. Manufactured from 100% borosilicate glass microfibres, the filter is binder free and unique in its construction: a course layer on top of, and meshed with, a fine layer. This filtration technique allows for higher particle loading capacity, faster flow rate and and life extendance of the filter. Multiple porosities means greater filtration efficiency. Whatman GF/A glass microfibre filters offer fine particle retention (1.6 µm) and high flow rate, as well as good loading capacity. Used for high efficiency general purpose laboratory filtration, including water pollution monitoring of effluents, for filtration of water, algae and bacteria cultures, foodstuff analyses, protein filtration and radioimmunoassay of weak ß emitters. Whatman Grade GF/B is three times thicker than GF/A with higher wet strength and significantly increased loading capacity. Combines fine particle retention (1.0 µm) with good flow rate. Particularly useful where liquid clarification or solids quantification is required for heavily loaded fine particulate suspensions. Can be used as a finely retentive membrane prefilter. Used in LSC techniques where high loading capacity is required.

Convenient, easy filtration. The FilterCup is a disposable filter funnel that comes in a range of 70mm diameter filter media. This convenient device is molded from polypropylene with an integral, heat bonded filter. FilterCups offer you a choice of 3 glass microfiber and 3 cellulose filter media. These devices hold a 250mL capacity and have greater than a 31 square centimeter filtration area.They are usually used under vacuum with the FilterCup Stem (available separately). FilterCup units snap easily into and out of the stem which is compatible with filtering flasks and stoppers.

Whatman No. GF/C combines fine particle retention (1.2 µm) with good flow rate. The standard filter in many parts of the world for the collection of suspended solids in potable water and natural and industrial wastes. Fast and efficient clarification of aqueous liquids containing low to medium levels of fine particulates. Widely used for cell harvesting, liquid scintillation counting and binding assays where more loading capacity is required.

Whatman No. GF/F is a high efficiency filter that will retain fine particles down to 0.7µm. Unlike membrane filters with a comparable retention value, it has a very rapid flow rate and an extremely high loading capacity. Suitable for critical applications including enumeration of Salmonella and Pseudomonas Aeroginosa, clarification of protein solutions and filtering samples and solvents prior to HPLC.

Whatman No. GF/D is considerably faster in flow rate and overall filtration speed than cellulose filter papers of similar particle retention (2.7 µm). The filter is thick and consequently exhibits a high loading capacity. Designed as a membrane prefilter and available in sizes to fit most holders. GF/D will provide good protection for finely retentive membranes. Can be used in combination with GF/B to provide very efficient graded prefilter protection for membranes.

VACU-GUARD is a vacuum protection filter device designed to prevent fluid and aerosol contamination of vacuum pumps or aspiration suction systems and, at the same time, eliminate hazardous exhaust.
